Embroidered Cotton Bed Valance

Crisp cotton bed valance dating to the Edwardian period and looks to have never been used. It may have been given as a wedding gift and was then stored away with the "special" bed linens.

It is machine embroidered whitework in a simple, decorative style with an openwork swag and a pretty scalloped edge.

It measures 112 inches long and has a drop of just over 18 inches. There are cotton ties intermittently along the back for tying on to a bed frame.
 
This lovely textile could also be used on a window.
