Hand Painted Floral Box

Wooden box (beleived to be cedar) decorated with hand painted flowers. It measures approximately 7.5 inches long (19 cm) and 4 inches (10 cm) wide. It was probably orignally intended for use as a cigarette or playing card holder.
 
The background colour is a flesh tone/ pink-ish shade and the edges around the top are decorated with spots of burnished gold. The large floral spary on the top is very pretty and strikingly colourful. Both sides are painted with small violet shaped flowers.
 
The end which slides open is rounded. The inside is unpainted and there are 4 tiny feet. There are few marks on the outside of the box but the inside is near perfectly clean.
 
This decorative box has a great many uses- storing postcards, letters, trinkets, jewellry- even matches on the fireplace mantle!
