1930's Violets Chocolate Box

Wonderful vintage 1930's chocolate box by the Meltis company which was based in Bedford. It is decorated with hand painted Violets on a raised light grey/stone Silk panel and is bordered in purple. The border of the base is also purple velvet.
 
The inside has very pretty scalloped lace paper around the inner edges. There is a tray with decorative protective paper which would have covered the chocolates with the Meltis label and beneath that is a thick protective tissue with "Meltis Selection New Berry Fruits, Choclates & Candies" on it. The tray has a small ribbon on both sides so that you can lift it out and use the box to store other keepsakes.

It does have some wear as would be expected from an item of it's age with a few marks and rubs but is overall in lovely condition. It is also very solid and well made. It measures 11 1/4 inches (28.5 cms) by 9 inches (23cms).
