19thC French Gilt Shelf

A wonderful find-  19th century French Gilt wood shelf, hand carved and decorated with beautiful gesso ornamentation in the from of scrolling designs, acanthus leaves, scalloped shell shapes and intertwining borders.

There are a couple of the usual "cracks" that always come with genuine antique gesso work and a small repair. It remains solid and 100% sound. It is almost 11 inches wide across the top ( 28 cms) and 7 1/4 inches high (18 cms).
