Antique French Planter c.1860
French porcelain planter or cache pot with a beautiful hand painted Bluebird tending her nest and eggs surrounded by glorious warm pink Roses, buds and foliage.
The pot has a low pedestal style base. There is a drainage hole in the bottom. It measures approximately 7 by 7 inches (18 by 18 cm).
The only mark on the base is an impressed number which appears to be "10". The pot has some very tiny scattered specks which is from oxidised Iron in the porcelain. The top section has a black painted band which probably had some form of gilding to the edge but has now completely faded leaving some wear to the black paint.
This really is a very special planter and so lovely to find in this rare larger size and without chips and cracks.
