Hand Painted French "Tray"

Antique papier-maché decorative French tray with a hand-painted rural village Provençal scene.  It is an attractive and unusual arched shape with curved details.  It depicts a fisherman at a river just outside rustic buildings and among some cypress trees, shrubs and rocks. Mountains can just be seen in the background. It is surrounded by a hand-painted "frame" in blue flourishing borders.

This charming piece is genuinely "time-worn" and has considerable wear and scrapes particularly with one scrape on the upper left area (please see photos). There appears to have been a couple small repairs to "chips" around the edge, both of which are very solid and stable.
 
It can be stood against a wall on a piece of furniture or can be adapted to hang on the wall by using small picture hooks on the back.  It is 29 1/4 inches (74 cms wide) and 14 inches (36 cms) high through the center.  This is perfect for those who love the look of faded grandeur.....
