Pair of Italian Painted Floral Book Ends

Elegant Italian gilt wood book ends with beautiful handpainted floral sprays on a warm yellow background. Unfortunately my photos are not doing any justice to the truly lovely painting.
 
The inside of the book ends is gilt painted. "Made in italy" is impressed on the inside. The painted floral designs include Roses , Tulips, Carnations and many others. The painting is signed by the artist but unfortunately I am not sure of the name.
 
The book ends measure  5 3/4 inches high by 4 1/4 inches wide. The paint has some chips as shown and some minor crackling.
